Well, the Angels have the best lineup of all time…

Albert+Pujols+2011+World+Series+Game+3+Texas+EAlMvQxYmH5lAccording to ‘multiple sources’ the Los Angeles Angels have signed Josh Hamilton to a 5 year $125 million contract.

They will now undoubtedly have one of the most formidable offensive forces in the history of baseball. I found it surprising that he signed with the Angels, as they were never mentioned as a suitor for this years top free agent. The Angels clearly want to win now, but will it be worth it in the end?

As a Chicago Cubs fan I say, “Hell NO!” The Cubs tried a similar route in 2006 when they spent over $300 million trying to ‘buy’ a World Series trophy. It doesn’t work that way. For all the Angels fans who are stoked about this deal, cool your jets. Talk to me in a couple years when Pujols and Hamilton are missing a third of the season for injuries or what have you. Let me know how you feel about the nearly $60 million combined the Angels are paying them when they are 36-years old.

The money should have been spent on Greinke, they already had one of the top offenses in the MLB. Past Jered Weaver and C.J. Wilson, the rotation will be interesting. Yeah, they got Tommy Hanson, but he’s been on a serious decline in the past 12-18 months. It’s gonna be tough to get it done with Jerome Williams and Joe Blanton anchoring the rotation.
